Fery On The Move: My 5 favourite places in Cape Town

Fery On The Move: My 5 favourite places in Cape Town

I have been in Cape Town for longer than a month now and everyday I had visit a spot or more. If I have to chose, so far I will go for:

1. Table Mountains

  • Hiking time: 1to 2 hours. One of the Wonders of the New World and the most visited place in Cape Town by tourists. Almost 900 000 of visitors from all over the world use the cable car annually and thousands hike the Table Mountain every year. Hiking Table Mountains can be dangerous if you go unprepared. Have a look on their website and make sure you check the weather before as the place is characterised by inconsistent weather. I recommend to do the hiking at the end of spring or in the summer. Make sure you go up there when the sky is clear to have the best view over Cape Town. Platterklip Gorge is the most direct and popular route to the top of the mountain but also more dangerous than the other routes. Once you get there the view is just amazing! I suggest you to have a look at my Table Mountains hiking experience.

2. Lion’s Head

  • Hiking time: 1 to 2 hours. The perfect place to watch the sunrise! To get to Lion’s Head from Cape Town, we drove up towards Table Mountain in the direction of Camps Bay via Kloofnek Road. Then we took Signal Hill and turn off at the lowest point between Table Mountains and Lion’s Head. The hike start from there and its not too difficult(type A) and along the way you can find a series of chains and ladders to assist you because you’ll still have to pass some narrow edges. We can also chose the recommended route which is more safe and you don’t need to use the chains. If you go to watch the sunrise take a torch with you or head torch will be more indicated and some warm clothing as is getting chill out there. My Lion’s Head experience was mind-blowing

3. Camps Bay

  • You must go there at least once! There is "cream de la cream" of the tourist and South Africans. First time I went there I was amazed by the blue of the ocean like only in movies you can see and the platinum blonde sands almost unreal. I have picked Cafe Caprice to have my lunch. The place is simple as design, the food is good and prices are decent. Leonardo di Caprio, Prince Harry and other V.i.P’s were spotted once here and since that time the place became very famous. While seeping from my smoothie I was starring with my mouth literally open at the good looking man and women walking down the road.

4. Signal Hill

  • Here I do my run almost every morning and I am quiet familiar with the surroundings. The Hill is known for the breath-taking sunrise and I have seen many couples enjoying the lights in the summer when you can have a spectacular view over the city and Table Mountains. I like to watch paragliding from the top of the Hill. Impressive colours are playing in my eyes every time I reach the top.

5. St James Beach

  • Colourful cute beach little houses close to the shoreline of the Ocean. There is a train station passing by giving the place a more unique view. First time I saw this place on a travel blog and I added on my wishlist. There is not much things to do but to relax and enjoy the view. At the shoreline there is a pool built up where you can swim or just lay in the water.

Is there any other place in Cape Town you would like to know more about?

Write down your favorite and I will dedicate my time to write about it.

Safe trips travelers!
